Creating Custom Personas

Ergogen allows you to create custom personas that perfectly match your unique voice, brand identity, or specific content needs. Unlike the predefined expert personas, custom personas are built specifically for you.

You can create a custom persona using one of three methods, depending on your preference and available resources.

Starting the Creation Process​

  1. Navigate to Settings by clicking the gear icon in the navigation bar.
  2. Select the Persona tab.
  3. Scroll down to the "Your Custom Personas" section (or "Choose Your Persona" if you're new).
  4. Click the Create Custom Persona button.
  5. Enter a unique name for your new persona in the "Persona Name" field.
  6. Choose one of the three creation methods below.

Best for: Users who already have content they've written and want the AI to mimic their existing style. This is the fastest and most accurate way to replicate a specific voice.

How it Works​

You paste examples of your previous writing (LinkedIn posts, blog excerpts, tweets, etc.), and Ergogen's AI analyzes them to extract your unique specific tone, sentence structure, and vocabulary.

Steps​

  1. Select the Clone Style card.
  2. Paste your first writing example into the text box.
    • Tip: Examples should be between 100-2000 characters.
  3. Click Add Another Example to provide more context.
    • We recommend providing 3-5 varied examples for the best results.
    • You can add up to 10 examples total (max 15,000 characters).
  4. Review your examples and remove any that don't represent the voice you want.
  5. Click Generate Persona.

The AI will analyze your content and create a persona that writes just like you!

Method 2: Basic Questionnaire​

Best for: Users who want a structured approach or don't have existing content to clone. This method ensures all key aspects of your personality are captured through specific questions.

How it Works​

You answer a 7-step questionnaire covering everything from your interests to your communication style.

The 7 Steps​

  1. Interest Topics: Select the broader categories you want to write about (e.g., Technology, Marketing, Self-Improvement).
  2. Detailed Interests: Choose specific niches within your broad topics.
    • Example: If you chose Technology, you might select "AI Tools" or "SaaS Development".
  3. Self-Perception Traits: Pick adjectives that describe how you see yourself (e.g., "Analytical", "Empathetic", "Direct").
  4. Content Goals: Define what you want your content to achieve (e.g., "Educate Audience", "Generate Leads", "Inspire Action").
  5. Platform Preferences: Select where you intend to post (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
    • This helps the AI format content correctly for your target platforms.
  6. Location: Provide your location context (optional but helpful for local nuances).
  7. Target Audience: Describe who you are writing for.

Once you complete all 7 steps, click Complete to generate your persona. Note that your progress is saved automatically if you need to come back later.

Method 3: Advanced Conversational​

Best for: Users who want a deeper, more interactive experience. It feels like being interviewed by a brand strategist.

How it Works​

You have a natural conversation with an AI agent. It will ask you probing questions about your background, style, and goals, adapting its follow-up questions based on your answers.

Features​

  • Interactive Interview: The AI digs deeper into your answers.
  • Voice Support: You can speak your answers instead of typing for a more natural flow.
  • Adaptive Questions: No two interviews are exactly the same.

Steps​

  1. Select the Advanced card.
  2. The AI will introduce itself and ask the first question.
  3. Type or speak your answer. Be as detailed as you like.
  4. Continue the conversation until the AI has enough information.
  5. The assessment will conclude automatically, or you can choose to finish it when you feel you've shared enough.

Managing Your Custom Personas​

After creating a custom persona, you can manage it from the Settings > Persona tab:

  • Activate: Click the "Activate" button on a persona card to make it your current active voice. The active persona will have a green "Active" badge.
  • Rename: Click "Rename" to change the display name of your persona.
  • Delete: Click "Delete" to remove a persona you no longer need. Note: This action cannot be undone.

You can also quickly switch between your active custom persona and other expert personas using the Persona Dropdown in the top navigation bar.
